The Chipotle guy likes 311
I wore my Transistor shirt to Chipotle and the first worker in the line said cool shirt. Then there was a long delay in the line moving because the lady in front of me had a lot of orders, so the guy asked me if I still like the band and we talked about 311. He's a fan but hasn't gotten Stereolithic yet due to being disappointed by recent releases. After talking to me, he is going to go buy it tomorrow.

Re: The Chipotle guy likes 311
He will hate you after buying the album. Better find a new chipotle man.
I have a few acquaintances in the same situation as him. The reason I say your chipotle chef will hate you is this.
We've grown and "put up" with all of 311's releases. Good, bad, DToM/Uplifter/UP.......... That was a rough patch for many people. We've adjusted our ears to the 311 sound for the last decade, compared to those that are STILL clinging to the days of 96-01. I don't care what others think honestly, I've grown thick skin over the last few albums. I just hope your burrista (see what I did there, burrito, barista........) has more of an open mind and isn't as cynical as a lot of others.

Re: The Chipotle guy likes 311
It sounds like you've encountered a lot of animosity for Stereolithic among fans you know. I wouldn't be so quick to put the Chipotle guy in the category of late 90s fans who hate everything since because of the evolved style. He didn't say he hated the more recent releases, just that he was somewhat dissappointed. He said he was already considering buying Stereolithic, but after talking to me he is going to for sure buy it.
I put the 90s albums up on a pedestal, and I've been disappointed with DTOM through UP, but I'm a big enough fan to buy everything and give it a shot. The Chipotle guy has everything accept Stereolithic. I think I can remember what he looks like until I go in there again, and if he is working I'll follow up with him to see what he thought.

That's cool man. I've had some push-back on any 311 post From Chaos actually. I pump jukeboxes with stereolithic as often as possible

Re: The Chipotle guy likes 311
Post From Chaos, that's funny to me. After loving Music through Soundsystem, I actually just assumed every 311 album would be totally awesome. On the night of the From Chaos release day, I called Shaker (my friend who introduced me to 311 back in '93) to see what he thought. He asked me first if I liked it. IF. I thought he was joking so I sarcastically replied, It sucks. He said, I know. He wasn't joking. His first reaction was that he overall hated it. For the first 6 months after it came out, I listened to it 3 times a week. I think it was after Evolver came out before I even admitted to myself that From Chaos wasn't as good as the rest of their albums. But From Chaos does seem to be generally well-loved among fans I know, so I guess we are rare exceptions.
I don't remember anyone saying Evolver sucked. Then DTOM came out and it is almost universally viewed as the worst 311 album (Shaker and I agreed it was worse than From Chaos). I don't think Shaker cares for Uplifter that much either but all of my other 311 friends actually liked Uplifter much more than I did, so they were the ones giving me grief for not liking it as much as they did. I haven't talked with that many people about Stereolithic yet.

Re: The Chipotle guy likes 311
Oh yeah, an update. I went back to Chipotle last night, and Chipotle Guy was working. He said he didn't have the money to buy Stereolithic yet but he hoped to be able to this week. I told him when he gets it to give the new album a few listens to let it sink in before he declares an opinion about it. He said his favorite albums are Blue and Transistor, and after talking to me 3 weeks ago he found out that Stereolithic is produced by Scott Ralston. He felt Bob Rock was bad for 311. He said DTOM, Uplifter and UP are the worst 311 albums, but he also didn't care for Evolver that much either. He feels From Chaos was their last great album. He said he hasn't been to the show in a while and wants to see 311 in July, and I told him he better get Stereolithic before the concert.

Have a guy here at work about to take a bet
Has to eat 3 Chipotle burritos in 45mins
If he wins, we buy a burrito every 2 weeks for a year
He loses, he buys a burrito for us every 2 weeks for a year
I think he's cray cray

Re: The Chipotle guy likes 311
Today the Chipotle guy twirled his hair around his finger. I'd never been so nervous in my life. As I walked toward him I imagined us growing old together, adopting children, and living happily ever after. When I got close I started to panic. I quickly grabbed my phone and played a song pretending I was getting a call. He smiled as I walked away. It was a great day.
Music's what i need to keep my sanity
