Watching this yahoo live stream. He looks like it hurts to sing and he constantly looks down at his TelePrompTer. I'm seeing them on Tuesday in Austin I hope it
Blows me away. He needs more vocal effects live. His vocals are starting to go. He sometimes looks so tired haha. It will be comical if he keeps this up in ten years. He won't know the songs anymore

They do have quite the catalog of songs. I've been a fan for about 20 years and don't know all the words, the raps especially.FrixHex311 wrote:Watching this yahoo live stream. Re: Nick Hexum
yeah - the live recordings are really unforgiving to the vocals. they are too high in the mix and I definitely think more effects would help.
I saw them last night in Boca and it was awesome. sounded great. nicks voice is the only thing that hasn't gotten better over time. Tim sounds sooooo good these days. His tone is perfect and I love the effects he uses.
they sound way better in person - I wasn't stressing the sound of his vocals even though you could hear him struggling.
In friday afternoon and tranquility they turn him down and blend the vocals more with the music because he can't hit that aawooooooo shit. But when they turn down toss on effects it comes out great.
I would encourage you to go see them if you still have the chance this tour. A real 311 tour without a hokey has been opener brining in all sorts of non fans.

I thought he was great on the stream.. sure there were a few songs he was off. Love song was especially bad lol... but his enthusiasm and energy was great. I don't blame him with the telepromter. They have a heap of tunes...

I thought the same thing, then I realized that SA, tim, chad, and pnut don't have sheet music stands/iPads with tabs on them.Freeze Time wrote:I don't blame him with the telepromter. They have a heap of tunes...
and then I realized that as long as it sounds good, who cares?

they have been using the teleprompters for a long time. I remember first hearing about them when they were on Warped tour 2001.

Re: Nick Hexum
the teleprompter thing annoys the piss out of me. He was heavily reliant on it during songs that are played ALL the time like beautiful disaster.
SA doesn't need a teleprompter...he just fucking tears it up 100% of the time.
