Out of curiosity, what songs off of Music do you consider to be bad?

Maybe the word "BAD" was a bit harsh. Just not that great...again IMO. So to answer your question, I'm not personally big on My Stoney Baby. The song is just ok for me. Again, love the album as a whole.

1. All pre-music, grassroots, transistor, music, 311
2. Soundsystem, stereolithic (both on the edge of tier 1)
3. Evolver, from chaos, uplifter ( I really like uplifter, has some really creative stuff on it)
4. Universal pulse (too short and horrible production quality knock it out of tier 3)
5. Don't tread on me (garbage with the exception of 2 or 3 tracks)

I think I'd pretty much agree with your list except I'd switch 4 and 5 around.

Later
I'm lazy but exactly what Jojo said. Last one would be Pulse only due to length an piss poor production.

How in the hell were they able to put out 3 albums in 3 years? That's unheard of these days! I realize music was comprised mainly of early songs but the stylistic differences between grassroots and blue almost don't make sense, so it can't be they had 30 songs ready to go like for tranny.

Tier 1 - Music, Grassroots, Blue, Transistor
Tier 2 - Soundsystem
Tier 3 - Stereolithic
Tier 4 - Evolver
Tier 5 - Uplifter
Tier 6 - From Chaos
Tier 7 - Don't Tread on Me

I've recently put Stereolithic up against Evolver, and Stereolithic won. Best 311 album of the century now!

If I absolutely had to put UP up there, it would be in between From Chaos and DTOM.

1. Soundsystem
2. Music, Grassroots, Evolver
3. Blue, Transistor, From Chaos
4. Uplifter
5. DTOM, Universal Pulse, Stereolithic

The albums under tier 5 all sound uninspired to me. Even the best song in Stereolithic, Showdown, is ruined by P-nut's cartoonish-sounding riff before verses.
Uplifter's not my fav but it has its brightspots in Golden Sunlight and Get Down.
I only really listen to half of the songs on each album in tier 3. The rest are pretty much filter...
I like most of the songs on each album in tier 2, excluding Silver, Other Side of Things, and the cheesy eddie offord chant intro to FTBS.
I like how mature SS sounds. Even Nick admitted in an interview that he was dealing with real issues (pain, suffering, paranoia) on that album, which shows on flowing, eons, sever, and LITM. On the other hand, come original and strong all along are good for party jamming too, and Mindspin and L&R have that classic 311 fuck-you attitude. Evolution gets a lot of crap from you guys but I like it regardless.

And I wish I had your ears!
Part of the problem for me is how dry everything sounds. What happened to when everything was dipped in reverb? The last album it was really noticeable on was From Chaos.
I just automatically assumed once they got Scotch back that effect would return. Maybe he still makes them sound that way live. Guess I'll see in July.

I disagree with all of that, but to each his own.

Come Original, Can't Fade Me, Mindspin, and Livin' & Rockin' have always been my faves on this album, but I hadn't listened to the whole album in a long time, so I did last week, strait through with no skips. Beyond my 4 faves, the songs I got into the most were Flowing, Sever and Evolution, so I guess right now that would be my second tier of SS songs. My bottom tier is still Leaving Babylon and Eons, which I got crap for here. bcole, I won't give you crap for Evolutions.

Evolution is great though. Love singing along with that song.

I thought LB was trippy when I first heard it. That's my favorite kind of reggae, where you can just space out. I didn't realize it was a cover till years later.
