I'm going with "Boom Shanka" right now. I pretty much love everything about that song.

Is no one bothered by how Nick is auto-tuned in the last half of Tranquility? I can't really make my mind up. It actually sounds much better than the first minute or so. It's growing on me. I just am not a fan of auto-tuning

I definitely noticed on the first listen, cared not a bit.

It'll be interesting to see how this album sounds live, but to be honest I think it's more geared towards studio production, but we'll see.......

I think I'm more OK with it than NOT, because it adds to the whole vibe of the song. I'll hold off my concern until he starts using auto-tune on everything he sings.

I think what we're missing here is a place to talk about each song individually. When 5oE came out, we talked about that one. Then Showdown came out and we talked about that. Then Make it Rough, and we talked about it it (albeit not as much as the first two.) Now, we only talk about the album as a whole, and basically kind of interweave thoughts about individual songs throughout. Would anybody be opposed to a different thread for each song so we can talk about them like that? I know I would enjoy it. Just a thought.

Apropos of nothing, a kid I went to high school with would respond to EVERY request with "You can suck my dick."

"Rick, can I get a quarter?" "You can suck my dick."
"Rick, you have a pencil I can borrow?" "You can suck my dick."
"Ricky! Ricky, my man. Can I borrow your math book for two seconds?" "You can suck my dick."

And so on.

And then I found five dollars.

I can't get Weezer's Perfect Situation out of my head when listening to Tranquility. I know completely different, but I hear it every time.

Tranquility, Simple True and Made in the Shade are early standouts to me. I'm digging this album so far. I'll admit, Universal Pulse almost made me throw in the towel on 311 but this album is growing on me big time. Every song seems to have a counterpart from an earlier album. It's fun to listen to each song and name the album it would fit in with. Kind of like a "history of 311" album that has something for everyone.
