There's a convenience store called Richdale around here but everyone (that I know at least) would call it Richdales. When I was a freshman my friends and I were hanging outside a pizza place and noticed the Richdale across the street had no s. People just started calling it Richdales but since my friends and I actually looked at the sign we call it Richdale.

Have you ever come across the people who say "jimmies are the black ones sprinkles are the rainbow ones"...my roommate does that and I have tried multiple times to explain the difference between jimmies and sprinkles and how there are chocolate jimmies and rainbow jimmies and then there are sprinkles.

Actually I'm with your roommate on this one. I've always been taught and seen that the chocolate ones are Jimmies, and the rainbow ones are sprinkles. Thats how I go about it.

But how can you call rainbow jimmies sprinkles when sprinkles are totally different(those little round hard things that get put on cupcakes) while the only difference between rainbow and chocolate jimmies is flavor?

its a regional thing, nobodyyyyyyy calls them jimmies here. if you asked for a jimmy they would be like wtf hmmmmm?? those dot ones are called nonpareils ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonpareils )here, like the things you would find on snowcaps. they call the longish ones sprinkles here.

I see what your getting at. But I just still differentiate them as the chocolate being Jimmies and the rainbow ones being sprinkles. The other ones you posted are sprinkles too.
