I just can't get into Modest Mouse. I keep trying but end up just skipping songs. I don't think Isaac Brock is nearly as gifted a lyricist and singer as Morrissey.
and there is no doubt in my mind that the order would be The Smiths > Morrissey solo > Modest mouse.
But I did grow up listening to the Smiths, thanks to my older brother. So it might be more Nostalgia. I can barely stomach Morrissey's most recent efforts. In fact I haven't purchased his last 2 albums.

isaac brock is an amazing lyricist and songwriter. i'd agree that moz has a better singing voice but moz sings better than practically everyone.
no reason to really compare these two bands anyways.
modest mouse is awesome, the smiths are awesome, everything is fucking awesome!
