He has been shot in his florida home today and airlifted to a miami hospital. He is in critical condition right now

"Doctors are worried the blood loss might affect blood flow to the brain, said Sharpstein, who was at the hospital with Taylor's family and friends.

In a story posted on The Washington Post's Web site, Sharpstein characterized Taylor as "nonresponsive and unconscious."

"Right now he's clinging to life and we're all praying he makes it," Sharpstein said, according to The Post.

Officers were sent to Taylor's home at about 1:45 a.m. after his girlfriend called 911 and said he was shot in his lower body, Lt. Nancy Perez said. Taylor had missed the last two games because of a knee injury and was at home recuperating. Taylor was airlifted to the hospital.

That really sucks. He is a hell of a player and a joy to watch. I hope he comes out of it ok.

"The doctors are being very guarded about their prognosis," said Sharpstein, who was at the hospital with the player's family and friends. "They're being a little bit skeptical about either whether he might make it or whether it might cause some permanent brain injury."

Still, Cerrato said he was encouraged by some news from the hospital.

"He was responsive to the doctor's request to squeeze his hand and show facial expression, and so the doctors were very happy about that," he said. "They told us to hope for a miracle, and I think the positive news we got was extremely good news."

My friend called me during class to give me the terrible news. I immediately ran out of class, sped home, and glued myself to the extremeskins forums for a good 1-2 hours.

I'm still in complete shock and disbelief......

i dont think he'll die, but im not so sure about him coming back to play ball. like he said about, he was responsive witch is great, and hte team owner said htat the surgery went very well.

It's so sad what happened. When I went to sleep last night the doctors were saying he was responsive and looked like he was doing better. May he Rest In Peace.

Being a huge Miami Hurricanes fan... this just really caps off an already degrading season. He was only 24 and was a standout not only for Miami but for Washington as well. Such a shame for something like this to happen.

Hopefully they find the senseless that did this and hang him.

Sounds to me like he found someone in his house with a gun, they shot him and escaped, and he died. You don't have to be Jesus for someone to give condolences.

i think this was a retaliation from something he did. whoever shot him knew he was there, and burst into the room, shot him and ran. nothing was taken. sounds like a hit to me.
