It's true, you caught me. I have no idea how many dead bodies they have, but I don't believe 4700. Unless that's the accumulated total for all time.

well most of the bodies are buried .. but still under morgue care i guess. these are just unclaimed bodies. it's probably the count from the past year up to now.Station wrote:It's true, you caught me. 4700 appears to be the number they have "on file" currently, even though they only physically have about 1000. It's not from just the past year, it's an accumulation over multiple years.
At any rate, the bodies are unclaimed for many reasons. Some of them are hobos, sure. But even if 300 of them are hobos (as you guessed), that doesn't mean the 300 died this year. Some of them could have been in the morgue's possession for years. And I would guess that only a tiny fraction are from deaths by freezing or heat exposure. Hobos get old and get cancer etc. too.
