True Blood

Post by Jorge »

Anybody watch this show? It's quickly becoming my second favorite HBO program of all time for its interesting look at bigotry and tradition. Plus their is lots of nudity.

I initially felt the same way. Vampires are ultimately lame, but they are a terrific trope for the real meaning of the show. It's like a complex Faulkner story but with more sex, drugs, violence, and contradictions.

Don't let the vampire aspect deter you from watching. This show is not in the same league as today's vampire shows/movies/books.

I agree. When I first watched it, I expected to be very disappointed. I hate all the vampire crap.

This is actually a great show though. It's a neat concept to have vampires be out in the open and see the prejudice that they go through.
and in the end
the love you take
is equal to
the love you make

i watched this show for the first time yesterday, the first episode of season 2 I believe it was. I think I am going to download and watch all of the first season and start watching it from now on, it was a cool show. I like how it is filmed, it has a very unique style and the sex scene at the end of the episode was enough to make me wanna watch again.

haha i agree with the nudity thing, but i just loved the sex scene because she isn't a vampire and she likes him to bite her, just a cool scene.

I like the show tho, the drunk cop guy is hilarious too and it just seems worth a watch, i'll know better once I see some more episode tho. I love shows with great casts/great writing and fucked up moments with cliffhangers, its the standard formula for a good show ie weeds, breaking bad, rescue me, lost, californication, entourage, US of Tara and all the other ones i watch

Fuck you guys and your vampire hate. The only reason for it is the backlash against that horrid shit Twilight(and a large portion of Anne Rice novels). The Vampire mythology is one of the best ancient tropes that exists. It's got a rich past and there have been many good adaptations of the mythology to screen and text. Interview With The Vampire, Salem's Lot, Bram Stokers Dracula, From Dusk Till Dawn, I Am Legend(the book), Blade(Fuck you, the comics and the movies are good, well maybe not 3), Let The Right One In, Vampire Hunter D (lolanime), Bloodsucking Fiends & You Suck, The Lost Boys, Nosferatu The Vampyre.

In conclusion, the whole Vampire genre doesn't suck and shouldn't be written off cause some cunt wrote some shitty novels about sparkly vampire love.

I love True Blood. The show is WAAAAAY better than the books...well I've only read the first book so far. Follows the book kind of close but the show definitely improved the bad parts of the book. I got my boyfriend and a couple of his friends into the show.

holy crap i love this show
LOVE this show.
i cant wait for season 3!!!!
i read one of the books out of sequence years ago and hated it, this series really turns the kind of goofiness of the books and makes it so intense. a friend lent me season 1 on dvd and i watched 2 on demand in the span of less than two weeks, i couldnt keep from watching it!

and i mean.. as much as i like bill......ERIC ALL THE WAY!

So I have read all the books now, they are totally goofy and filled with sex, yet can't stop reading them haha. I really can't wait for the third season. Keep reading "spoilers" and stuff. While I know what the gist of what will happen next season they add random characters that make keep you guessing. They definitely need more Alexander Skarsgard though like in the books, they are pretty much all his character and now Stephen Moyer character haha.

I dressed as a Merlottes waitress for Halloween this year. More people recognized me as that than they did the year I dressed as Mia Wallace, that year people thought I was Britney Spears :(
