or you could just realize that people buy Guitar Hero to play a video game....not to learn an instrument

Death of music?! Quite the contrary....I've had conversations with little kids who are actually familiar with the material of bands like the Allman Brothers, Deep Purple, Santana, Blue Oyster Cult, Iron Maiden, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Cream, etc. solely from playing games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

Video games like Guitar Hero have actually aided the younger generation (and some of the older "less-informed") in knowing some of the classic songs & groups that most people, like us, take for granted in knowing. Now I'm not saying all the tracks on these games are gems but the majority of the setlists consist of excellent music that most kids would never hear on the radio or TV.

I don't know about you but after watching MTV the other day for the first time in many many years, I believe games like these have a positive influence on the young & old who aren't music guru's like the most of us~

I'd rather invest my time into a real guitar, but it is fun for what it is.
