Come Arabian

Post by Shiny »

Anyone ever hear the parody by Group X - "Come Arabian"?

I came across it for the first time tonight...didn't ever know that it existed, though I've heard a lot of songs from the band aside from the "Mario Twins" and "Bang, bang, bang" tunes that ended up being flash video phenonmena

Umm... Is it supposed to be funny, or what? It's pretty shitty if you ask me.

They are (now) 2 guys from a rock band in Atlanta that potray themselves as "Arabian Rappers"...using seemingly innocent references to stereotypes that reinforce their supposed 'culture'...much like Sacha Baron Cohen as the character Borat. I don't think the song, standing alone, is meant to be humorous...because I don't find anything funny about it either. Just their blending in 311 to fit their image.

It sounds like an advertisement for a radio station or something...?

Sounds like it...I found this on Wikipedia

There is also a separate single, "Come Arabian", which references a now-defunct morning show on WNNX, an Atlanta radio station.

group x did that for 99x a few years ago, i wouldnt exactly call them a "rock" band, they are simply arabian rap sensastions. group x rules and they are very funny even if you dont want to admit it
