Co-writers

Post by fatlip »

OK here's a question I probably already know the answer to, but maybe someone else could shed some light: why the fuck did 311 team up with the dude from fucking goldfinger (who hasn't put out anything noteworthy since hang-ups)? Why wouldn't they choose someone a bit more modern. If they're looking to explore their sound into the territory (which they have with MOSAIC) and get radio play why not choose someone like Major Lazer who works with tons of other artists and produce awesome shit consistently. ML is always ahead of the curve.

This is the guy they choose to help them stay relevant.

[note: i appreciate his output overall; just not for 311]

Should've brought Saint back, although I'm not sure if he writes songs. So what he made one bad album with them. The rest are golden.

I think saint's flavor wore out a long time ago, they tried, it sucked. I'm happy with Feldmann

ONE BAD ALBUM
Saint 3/4 good
Rock 0/2
Scotch 2/4
Offord 2/2

Edit: yes I realize there are a few gems on each of the last 5.

I meant that DTOM being a dud, and also the last album he did with them, spoke more to dj's point that the flavor / synergy wore off. Not denying that the older albums were good. I'd def rather her some new shit... bring Feldmann on again for the next album.

BTW who is going to drive me home this time tonight??

IMAGINE IF MOSAIC WAS PRODUCED BY SCOTCH/MAJOR LAZER. Do you understand how great that would be?

...and I'm not even saying that as a love letter to Major Lazer.. not even suuuper familiar with stuff. I just know Diplo & Friends consistently put out some of the best modern reggae tracks. I don't even think they'd have worked with any other album besides MOSAIC.

This is my guess...
I know that Feldmann has been producing some pretty successful albums from bands in the recent years, including Blink 182's latest album "California".

P-Nut is good friends with Mark Hoppus.

That might have been where the decision came from.
Feldmann has been recently producing albums with a new punk pop sound with FX, that's popular in Cali.

Still 311, new 311 evolving styles, with a new popular sound for the newer fans & older fans to enjoy.
Spoken.
