311's absolute worst songs

This thread is for specific songs that you feel drag the quality of 311's entire catalog down, because they have no redeemable quality, and they had no business being released to the public.

For me, these are the songs that, if taken from their respective albums and replaced with the sound of shit working it's way out of an asshole in high definition audio, might actually improve the album.

-Waiting
-Daisy Cutter
-Getting Through to Her
-Hey You

I almost hate these songs, and hate is an emotion I generally reserve for lion-killers, and baby-rapers.

Blindly pick ANY b-side, and plug it in place of any of those songs, and 311's catalog, and reputation are instantly better -- in my opinion.

Top Ten worst 311 songs, starting with the worst.

1. "Something Out Of Nothing" (worst song ever. It has nothing to offer. It is 311 as Metallica. (I blame Bob Rock)

2. "Daisy Cutter" (corny garbage) Lazy song writing and complacency.

3. "Two Drops In The Ocean" (Corny garbage. Lazy song writing and complacency. Reminds me of a terrible attempt of trying to make a McCartney/Beatles love song, mixed with cheesy 311, just can't believe it).

4. "Mix It Up" (Forced. Crap. Lyrically uncreative. Uninspired. Trash.)

5. "It's Alright" (lazy, uninspired song writing. I can't believe they released Uplifter in general.)

6. "Too Much Too Fast" (I don't understand peoples affection for this piece of crap).

7. "Jackpot" (The only thing good about the song is the Chad/Tim riff during the chorus, but even that is ruined by the lyrics. "Crack the coconut, and a twist of the lime!" VOMIT! VOMIT! VOMIT!")

8. "My Heart Sings" (A bad 311 love song. Period)

9. "Hey You" (Catchy chorus, but cheesy and uninspired. Chad's snare work ALMOST saves this song. And the "trippy bridge" - "as I wonder around, town to town......" Oh my.... It's like they tried as hard as they could to make it as shitty as they could. Once again, I blame Bob Rock.)

10. "Tranquility" (I might get some heat for this. I was going to put "Never Ending Summer", but I would rather listen to that song than Tranquility. I don't get this song. For such an absolutely amazing album, they certainly wrote a terrible song to end it with. Instead of giving us a "Sometimes Jacks" or "Always an Excuse", "And A Ways To Go" type 8 minute journey, we get "Ahh-oooooh!!!! Cookie Crisp!!!" Phenomenal album. Terrible song.)

completely spot on list. the only exceptions for me are Jackpot and Mix It Up. I like those songs as a kind of 311-junk-food. They're complete shit lyrically, but they are stupid-fun to listen to, so I still dig them in a way. I agree with your thoughts on Tranquility for the most part, just not as strongly. The song and its message seem very forced to me, and the "awooooooo" is super corny. Not to mention the auto-tune.
