I'm curious what made them choose to release that as the A-side on a major standalone release on Record Store Day. It's interesting to hear what we can assume is proof that they TRIED to write lyrics for that instrumental during the Transistor era, but didn't get very far. If this version of Grifters had been buried in the depths of the box set, it would've made more sense; it would've been a cool (but still ridiculously bad) glimpse into the demo process during their 'golden years'. I mean it still is, but it isn't billed that way here.

I'm glad it exists and I just assumed that all we'd hear from Grifters was the instrumental we'd been having. I do hope we get more of this kind of odd stuff in the box set.

But for a major single release like this with a lot of hype, this was a weird choice. There are so many other actually great rarities that never got a proper release, like Juan Bond, Next, Old / Space Funk, etc that would've worked better for a big Record Store Day release. Almost seems like a joke or a prank, like fatlip said.

Decent version of WGTH tho. Guitar and drums sound good.

I'm actually loving SA's rap on grifters. so smooth and some solid rhymes and flow.

this song sucks. SA kiiiiiiiiiinda saves it. should have just kept it instrumental or cancelled it and did an Old Funk/Space Funk 7"

idk i really don't hate it at all. obv Nick's part is a joke, but the rest of it is pretty good imo.
SA's rap is just so fucking good and chill. I love it. something about his voice is super cool on this track too.
