Re: My take on Stereolithic
gotta ask, what is your favorite album?
Re: My take on Stereolithic
Man... have you even listened to any albums before 2005?
Re: My take on Stereolithic
I don't see mystical completely encompassing the lyrics at all. So, I am confused. There are elements, but there has always been that.
Even on the same album as your example "Mindspin" - there are elements of the mystical. Can't fade me - material being verse. Flowing... it is so much more than how insomnia sucks. Its about being stuck in consciousness. Losing something more than just sleep.
To me much of their lyrics are about incorporating mystical and spiritual ideas into a very reality based life.
Look at the Mindspin verse you quoted. It's not NO mystical thinking at all, its about finding truth.
Anyway... I think your wrong.

Re: My take on Stereolithic
I just wanted to retract my earlier post and say I'm addicted to this album. I think it's the best I've heard from them in a while. I already bought the vinyl and have been listening to it constantly. Watching them on youtube playing the songs live has honestly impressed the fuck out of me and I'm seeing them this summer. They are back for me. I was too quick to jump the gun on my initial opinion of the album. Sorry 311.

best album since Soundsystem IMO.

@djlaureate : I have to say, to completely "EDIT" out your OP is pretty cowardly. It, essentially, makes this thread worthless. It has no bite for anyone to even bother to to read after you erased whatever it was that, apparently, had the nerve to say, then "took it back" after being chastised about it.
I'm really not trolling here, etc., I just think that was a bad choice, & wish a mod, or if you could, would just delete this from the forum.
