That's exactly how I feel. I've never had such low expectations for a 311 album in my 21 years of listening. Universal Pulse damn near killed my 311 fanhood. This album has officially won me back. I can't wait to see them pimp the new record during their summer tour.

I'm starting with Showdown and will circle back around to get the other two.

Showdown - Fucking love this song. Nick's awkward voice works perfectly here. I also love the chorus in this. Love that they change the music up mid way through as well. Tim is killing it on guitar on this one too. Pnut's bass reminds me of the same bass that 90's "hard rock" used to all have. This has a great sense of nostalgia while still sounding so fresh. 9/10

Revelation of the Year

Nice spacey intro. Side note, I fucking love the small sound effects in the background. Another song where the music seems to blend so many different genres. SA coming in...god damn I fucking love this album. This is the SA that I love. SA and Nick harmonizing on this album is phenom. Their lyrics albeit still full of cheez, still don't sound bad. I like this song, I don't love this song. That isn't a bad thing, there are just so many damn great songs on this album that even a good song no here is still awesome. I love SA's second verse on here. This is definitely an SA here and he's doing what he does best.

Sand Dollars

Admittedly, name alone, I thought this was going to be another amber, and while it does have a softer side to it, it is a million times the song amber was.
I love how they are using SA to counter Nick's monotone voice now. Not only does it make Nick sound better, it just sounds awesome. Speaking of Nick, when he's going solo here, it sounds great. His style fits the music perfectly here. There is one part where it sounds like he's saying "from the seamen to the peddle" lol. I love the chorus on here.

So many of their songs on this album are catchy as shit. Good on you 311.

Boom Shanka...this song sounds familiar

I like the background vocals that they do in this song. The initial throw off from Nick to SA was done so smooth. I also love how they jump into the chorus in here. There is no pause, just straight singing and going right in. Such a smooth transition.

The Great Divide

This sounds so 90's. well okay it did and then SA jumped in. Still very classic 311.

This instrumental sounds very familiar. Another DTOM?

SA has this sound of aggression in his voice which is fucking awesome. Nick should have stayed off of the chorus there.

The "whisper" part sounds awesome too. Oh loving this crescendo...oh this is good shit. AND BOOOM FUCK YES. It's so crazy how the end of this song doesn't even sound at all like the beginning. Jesus they are so good at doing this.
