Made in the shade could be my favorite 311 song ever. This song really is something special. I really hope they release this as a single.

Who wrote it? I'm gonna assume Nick and if it was then you really have to commend Nick on this one. Just lyrically and vocally, this is really different to anything he's ever done. This is 311 maturity. I hope they make songs like this for the next 30 years.

These are my faves: Make it Rough - BoomShanka (agreed should have been called Transmission) - The Great Divide - Made in the Shade
-----------
-Ebb and Flow has such promise, theres that weird change in the chorus that just sounds off....
-Tranquility is good, wish it was longer...they could have easily made that a 7 min jam.
-Simple True is very NHQ and Don't Dwell Evolvery, I like it...
-Sand Dollars is actually pretty cool, i dig it
-Revelation of the Year is decent some parts I love, others are ok
-Friday Afternoon....could have been more going on....it changes yes, but.....im kinda on the fence about this one.

I feel like maybe since the album was a bit rushed to make sure it was ready in time to release on 311 day that's why some songs feel like they could have been a bit longer or some jams could have been extended. I'd like to think that they envisioned Tranquility building into an epic solo like the 2nd solo in Use of Time but just never got around to it...

good call. that'd be sweet. I just wish Tranquility had like 1 more minute of jamming at the end. But maybe it feels short and over too soon because I know in my mind it's the last song on the album and I just want it all to keep going....... Definitely leaves me wanting more.

I was fully expecting Sand Dollars to suck. As the song went on, it kept getting better and better.

yeah, it they could "re-release" in like 6 months with the Solo's that should be in there and adjust a few things, this would probably be my fav 311 album....again, there are moments where it feels kinda.....rushed, or.....they laid a melody and tweakked it SO much that eventually just went with the most recent instead of rethinking it......still, who the F am I to say, its good music, I love the attempt....its a stretch, but its sweet shit, and a lot of it rocks....its a fun album....good work

FUCKING YES!!!!!!!! Chad going OFF at the end, like I've never heard on a recorded 311 track!

Hardest 311 song ever made, on their 11th album!!!
