It's refreshing and it's deserved. I think that positivity will stick with many of the songs vs. just the excitement of new music

how the fuck has no one posted about The Great Divide? this is the most original shit they've done probably ever. not the best but definitely the most different

never thought i'd say this about a 311 album, but this is going to take a few listens (currently on my 2nd run through). there's just so much here and many of the songs are structured in a way that seems to make them hard to take in on first listen.

i will say that i really like that the band seems more free on this record. even little things like the snippets of conversation between songs and ambient noise make a huge difference in terms of creating an immersive experience. it's also nice to be hesitant about a 311 song because i think it's weird and not because it's cheesy.

this kind of creativity has not been shown since transistor, and did not exist before transistor either. i'm not saying this album is as good.. but it's certainly their most creative effort
