Well they don't have any excuses for making shitty records any more. I went to one of their shows this year and it was pretty uneventful. Short set, they didn't do the tribal drum thing... the new songs do absolutely nothing for me live or on the record. I just don't care anymore, which is why I'm never really around.

But I will give their new shit a listen with casual curiosity when they release it... just in case they somehow begin to give a shit again.

311 is just showing up for work, and trying to make it fun despite it being a job. That's how their albums have felt at a progressively more obvious rate since Transistor. Especially once they let go of their hopes to get back into the main stream and pretended to embrace the "underground", their ambitions have seemed utterly empty.

I like one song from Universal Pulse. Trouble. The rest of it is terrible.

I liked a few of the songs from Uplifter, for a while, but I haven't listened to any of that in months, if not years. It goes right through you... like chicken chowmein that's been left out too long. I can barely remember what is on that record.

My mind has been so free of 311 for so long that I can not immediately recall what record they release directly before Uplifter. Funny thing is, my brain can't be bothered to figure it out.
