311 could take a cue from this
311 could take a cue from this
"How do you show that you like your fans? You don't ding 'em for money every possible chance you get. You make CD's long and add a lot of cool bonus cuts. You don't charge $50 bucks for a t-shirt; you charge a little bit more than the cost of making it. When kids download your stuff for free off the internet and they tell you about it, you don't get mad at 'em. My parting line is "Pal, I'd rather be heard than paid." So if you wanna steal my stuff, you go ahead and do to me what record labels have been doing to me for, you know-. Now you get to play man, good for you! But am I gonna come after you like Lars Ulrich demanding my 35 cents? No man. You know, if you can't afford to listen to my music, and you gotta get it off the internet, at least you're rockin. - henry rollins

I fail to see how 311 can take a que from Rollins. What does 311 do that's so anti-downloading?
Re: 311 could take a que from this
the downloading part doesn't really apply. I also cringe every time I see the subject topic because I misspelled cue.dj3stripes wrote:I fail to see how 311 can take a que from Rollins. What does 311 do that's so anti-downloading?

The downloading part is the entire point of the original picture that you had up and took back down. You're saying 311 is overcharging for shirts, and to make longer albums, right?

That was the intention in bolding.dj3stripes wrote:The downloading part is the entire point of the original picture that you had up and took back down. You're saying 311 is overcharging for shirts, and to make longer albums, right?
I believe there is a large point to what he said. But whatever you want to take away from it.
Re: 311 could take a que from this

and they suck now
Re: 311 could take a que from this
moral of the story: don't act the fool at a black flag concert
unless that was rollins band.. i can't tell.. just noise!

fatlip: Nobody is greater than Radiohead!!!
I love 311, but there new website, http://www.live311.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, pissed me off as they are charging $10 to $12 for mp3s per concert, and most bands, even including some of the ones who fought Napster, saw live concert mp3s as something that is okay to be free online. However, the new site also features DVD's of 311 concert's, which I am very happy to see more DVD releases, especially the 2011 Transistor Set Pow Wow Festival Set, which I already ordered and got, and is great!!!!
Basically, I guess my opinion is:
If fans are stupid enough to pay $10 to $12 for the mp3's for a live concert when a ton of them are available for free online, than they are morons. Same as the people that buy mp3's from Itune's (worst place on the net to buy music, as it's so insanely overpriced!!!!). If don't like downloading songs for free and want to pay than I suggest http://www.gomusicnow.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (song's there cost either 9 cents or 15 cents, generally the 15 cent songs are those released after 2010) and if you buy an entire album you get 10 percent off, so you can get an album for about a dollar, gomusicnow doesn't have as big of a variety as Itunes, but 9 cents per song versus 99 cents per song, I mean the choice is clear!
