Favorite 311 shows you've been to?
311 day '04 was obvi choice. But aside from that there are a lot of good memories surrounding 311 shows, and some forgotten moments too I'm sure. What are your fave shows or stories related to them?
yeahhhh boy. bwahaha.
Re: Favorite 311 shows you've been to?
those days in nola were some great memories
other than that the standout show for me would be last year at promo west in columbus. Good friends, huge beers, beautiful day, nice lawn to chill on, and best of all sublime opening!
the other memorable show was also at promo west when incubus opened and I had no idea who they were, became a fan that day.

I was at both of those shows ben. I didn't know you when incubus opened (in a parking lot no less) but I missed you last year. I remember my first show too. transistor tour, tornado warnings, rain literally coming in sideways through the amphitheater and mass transistor trackage.
yeahhhh boy. bwahaha.

Re: Favorite 311 shows you've been to?
first of 31: birmingham sept or oct 03. SA's birthday. silly stringed while he did his verse of FTBS closer. I was 17, changed my life.
311 day 04 I concur, also 06/08 were amazing but i was tripping so who really knows, only shows I've tripped at. does anyone else remember pre 04 show the girl who was flashing the crowd while the whole pit cheered and shit?
some random charlotte show that I went to on a whim in the 2006-2008 range. bought tix like day before and drove. bangin setlist, still dreaming...was caught so off guard I didn't recognize what song it was until SA came in then it hit me like HOLY SHIT THEY ARE ACTUALLY PLAYING THIS. might also have played hostile apostle, memory hazy
those are the ones that really stand out. all the other shows are just fleeting memories

Re: Favorite 311 shows you've been to?
Easy. My first 311 show, at a small venue in Toledo in September 1995. Before even getting in the venue I met Tim without knowing which member of the band he was and got to chat with him a bit. No Doubt opened (this was before they were big) and I flirted with Gwen Stefani between the sets. 311 played most of their 3 best albums, and I was dead center on the front rail directly attached to the tiny stage. It was very intimate - Nick and SA were literally rapping in my face. The mosh pit was directly behind me but this was before the band got popular and attracted a lot of dickhead fans. (Guys would occasional tap me on the shoulder and politely ask if they could put their hand on my shoulder to climb up the rail and crowd surf.) During FTBS I helped Nick keep his balance up the rail so he could stage dive over my head and I helped him back on stage. At the end of the show I got to shake hands with the whole band and thanked them personally. It doesn't get any better than that.
My second 311 show was 3 days later in Columbus and I viewed it from a balcony right over Stage Right (Tim's side). They actually changed up the set a bit and I heard all the songs that I hadn't heard in Toledo - so in my first 2 shows I heard every song from Music through Blue at least once but most songs twice. That was a pretty damn awesome show too.
Natty, the Cinci 97 show with rain blowing in the ampitheater sideways was my third 311 show. Cool.
Smoke, I was at the Columbus 2000 show with Incubus (in a German Village parking lot IIRC). We were under a full moon that June night. And the show ended right after the stroke of midnight, taking us into the day of 311's 10th anniversary. Smoke I'm guessing you were at the Cleveland show a couple days later (Shaker was at both).
311 Day 2004 in was also awesome, and the pre-show party the night before was where I first met Natty, Smoke and Hexumjunkie in person. And of course I got to rock out the concert with Smoke and Hexumjunkie (w/ Shaker and another one of my fraternity brothers). New Orleans was a fun vacation.
The hazy shows for me are actually all the Promowest/LC Pavillion summer shows from the first one in 2002 through my 20th and last 311 concert in 2010. I remember seeing Natty at one (maybe 04) and Hexumjunkie in 09 or 10. Greg StewieRules and his sister were there at least once and several other cool people over the years along with my usual group of Columbus cohorts. Somehow the weather is always beautiful. Yes, the beers are big. One year I was tripping my balls off on shrooms. Memories are hazy, but always a good time. My favorite venue for any band. Never ending summer

I will fully concur with will on the venue in cbus. not a bad spot in the house. the pit is always open to those adventurous enough to go there (I'm getting up there in years but still try to get in there for a bit lol). i talked a few guys i work with into going to the show last summer in cbus rather than cincy and they were instantly hooked. if anyone is going to cbus this coming tour hit me up. i'm always down for meeting new ppl and seeing old friends too.

311 Day 2012 by far. The setlist and atmosphere was awesome.
For a regular show, March 18th, 2008. Saw them at what was essentially a high school gym in Burlington, VT. Met Nick and P-Nut before the show. Heard Life's Not A Race for the first time there.

He had a little girl a couple years ago. I've got him on Fb, and his sister who I met at a show. She's cool and also into 311 a lot too.Smoke wrote:stewierules! whatever happened to him. We were buddies on FB, he musta dropped me
