I'm not questioning that, I'm questioning them touring as an excuse to be lazy artists. Touring takes a lot more out of an artist that sitting at home and writing music.

I don't think you understand the term "cliché". You probably meant something closer to "idiosyncrasy".

Transistor most certainly was not written with the live show in mind -- it's a sonic masterpiece but very few of those songs see the stage regularly. They also pretty much stopped touring for an entire year after releasing it.
