Guitar Players?

Post by FreezeTime21 »

Hey guys, kind of new to the forums here. But just checkin to see who the fellow guitar players are in here (if any). If so, whats your setup, and what are your favorite 311 songs to play?

Thats cool. I've got a Schecter C-1 Elite and use a Crate 2X12 120 watt. J/C, how come you're not into playing 311 stuff?

i play

i don't have anything special. i got a cheap line6 12" amp and a used yamaha guitar but it gets the job done.

i can play a ton of 311

i've been playin the shit outa music and blue lately

i struggle with the solo's mostly because i don't play enough to remember them all

as far as solos go i know sweet, confusing use of time, lose (nicks solo not tims), and visit
Jump up and down cuz that's the 311 style!

I play a few 311 covers with my gigging band and a lot more in my side-band garage project. Faves include Nutsymtom, Use of Time, Life's Not a Race, and Fuck the Bullshit.

Here's what I play with.

GIGS:
Schecter C-1 Plus with custom pickups: Air Zone in the bridge, Screamin' Demon in the neck

Mu-Tron III+, Buddah Wah, Boss RE-20 Space Echo, Ibanez Stereo Chorus, Boss OC-2 Octave, Boss CS-2, Korg Pitchblack tuner (BEST one for on-stage use, inexpensive!)

Randall preamps and PodXT Pro in the rack sitting on a 4x12 cab

FUN:
The Schecter thru a Line6 Spider III 2x12 combo amp with FBV longboard.

Guitars:
Epi Les Paul (green apple quilt top)
Ibanez GAX-70 (double cutaway with les paul electronics)
Epi Acoustic/Electric
Epi Thunderbird Bass
Spencer Acoustic (crappy. bought it for my fiance)
Tone Age Strat Body guitar (with custom Misfits paint job. needs new electronics)
Yamaha Flying V (crappy brown paint needs new electronics)

Amp:
Fender Frontman 25R 75w
Fender Mini Tone-Master

Pedals:
Digitech Death Metal
Digitech RP50 Modeling Guitar Processor
Zoom 1010 Multi-Effects Pedal

I like to fool around with a lot of 311 songs but I try not to too often as I usually try and write my own music.

No wah?? The RP150 has everything your RP50 has plus the wah pedal, which also doubles as a volume and Whammy pedal (for much less $) ;)

I like playing my own songs too, but it's fun playing songs that I grew up with and that affected my musical development.

I know I know. When I bought it I had a wah pedal so I didn't really need to spring for the RP150. As luck would have it my wah pedal got stolen about a year back along with a couple other pedals and a bunch of patch cables and a shure mic. Made it fairly convenient though. It was all in an ammo box.

Bass
Ibanez SR505

Pedals
-Crybaby
-Russian Big Muff
-Small Stone
-Boss DD-3
-Boss OC-3

Amp
-Hartke HA4000

Cabinets
-Hartke 410
-Ampeg SVT-15HE

I'm hoping to get rid of my Crybaby and replace it with an MXR Bass Auto Q. Then on the list there's an Ibanez flanger, Digitech Whammy and Boss TU-2.

My amp is cheap and old but it gets the job done. I can be heard over a Marshall head with a Mesa cab and drums while my volume is only at 4. :) It doesn't sound too bad, either.

The Hartke cab is liberated (read: STOLEN) from some guy I know. Long story short, he owed someone money who owed me money and he just happened to be selling that cab at the time. The Ampeg I got for a STEAL and I can't even tell you how much of a difference it makes with the low ends. Couldn't live without it.

How do you like the C-1 Plus? Like I said, I got the Elite, ironically amber colored, and I love it. Great cleans and pretty good crunch too. Beautiful guitar with some great sound. One of the better bargains and pretty underrated in my opinion.

Mine's amber too :D. Great sustain with the thru neck, full 24 fret (just so i could play Taiyed lol). Love the coil-tap for that strat sound although I did have to replace the stock "duncan-designed" HB-102 bridge pickup for more balls. Got a good deal on it tho: 1100 total incl. a spider III 2x12 combo.

I switched to my other guitarist's cream les paul classic for a while and it was beefier but heavy as sabbath and with less frets. Which, as an avid jumper and taiyed player, i couldn't put up with for too long.
