Places that the Mind Goes...
is the intermission of Mosaic. I agree with previous posts by others on here, in that this is not 311.
It's perfectly placed on the tracklisting of the album, because the second half of Mosaic starts off STRONG with Face in the Wind!
Mosh on the floor when played Live?

yeah I really like Places. So much better than the corny love songs like my heart sings or two drops in the ocean.$lmjimy311 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 7:54 pm Shut up, Cody

Since we're saying opinions, I like "Waiting" more.
Put THAT in your military blow torch and dab it.
I like Two Drops WAY more, but Places ties with My Heart Sings.
Plus, 311 wrote all of these songs I mentioned, themselves.
Places has like 24 writers and backing vocals from a Rod Stewart sounding cat.

For the human population, to them, I am only what another individual perceives me to be.
That's life son. Educate yo-self, mate.
However, the style of singing that viejolobo ese uses over the Waiting beat is fly!

Re: Places that the Mind Goes...
I agree with you 101% lip, as I've been listening to it more...
If I had to put it in a genre, I'd say that PTTMG is 311's first TRUE r&b song. Not full r&b, but you know what I mean bro.
I have a lot of respect for 311's version of Love Song for a few reasons...
1. It sounds better than The Cure's original
2. My all time favorite, most respected, biggest inspiration to me- comedy(and other styles now)-film maker, actor, producer, director, writer & everything in film creation:
ADAM SANDLER, sought out musical artists to create the soundtrack for 50 First Dates. He wanted his favorite bands from the 90s era to all do island sounding/reggae covers of his personal favorite songs from the 80s. To fit the flow of the vibe of the Hawaiian islands in the film.
Adam Sandler himself PERSONALLY made phone calls, to finally get in touch with 311! He explained to the boys what kind of soundtrack he wanted for 50 First Dates. He asked if they could create a reggae cover song of the Cure's - Love Song. He also mentioned a few little things that he personally liked of 311 and wanted in the film, that would be perfect, such as Tim's guitar sound of Amber, to fit the film.
311 agreed. Made the song. And I'm sure Sandler payed the boys some good bread.
3. Speaking of 50 First Dates..... It's scary how much that the film and all of it's details relates to the car accident that I was front passenger in 4/17/2009 when I sustained a severe TBI to the right side of my Frontal lobe and lost my right eye!
Drew Barrymore being in my position of course.
So this fucking film has
-My favorite, most inspiring film creator- Adam Sandler, who made everything.
-3 FUCKING 311 SONGS: Amber, Rub a dub, Love Song
-The super similar situation of Barrymore & my brain
injury
-And get THIS SHIT...Rob Schneider's character-Ula is blind in one eye and also has a prosthetic eye!
Like whoa.

This song sounds like it was ripped off from Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" from about 1:28 - 1:35. Very strange.

I threw out the idea for a collaboration with Mraz & Nick Hexum Quintet, bc the styles would fit perfectly together.

Thought about purchasing the vinyl so I can more closely see my picture(s). $25 tho? And I don't even own a record player. Yeah, my mind just went there.

Re: Places that the Mind Goes...
for someone who is not a Cure fan, I guess I can see why you'd think 311's version is better. But personally, I've been a fan of The Cure for probably just as long as I've been a fan of 311, and I can say hands down, that the Cure's version is better.$lmjimy311 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 15, 2017 7:46 pm 311's Love Song > Cure's Love Song.

I like the Cure. I wouldn't consider myself a fan by any means, but I respect their work and enjoy their hits.
