that's understandable. it's not a bad song at all. but it wouldn't crack the top half of 311 songs for me. probably would be in the bottom 3rd. top 5 is EXTREMELY ambitious.

the reason i like it most is because it sounds nothing like 311 stylistically. i like when bands break that barrier. catchy af.

This. Also why Gap is way up there for me.

I love Too Much Too Fast because of personal taste. It reminds me a lot of alternative rock/pop bands like XTC. I get a sense that Nick and Co were going for that style since he's a huge XTC fan, covering them on the Hexum Bros tour in 2004 and basically lifting the lyrics to "Day In, Day Out" wholesale in the bridge on Don't Tread on Me.

I hope that one day they go for that type of sound again, whether as 311 or otherwise.

Exactly my thoughts. Uplifter holds a special place in my mind because I had little faith that they would return from DTOM with something that hooked me personally, especially since my taste in music had changed so much in the meantime. So the fact that I immediately loved that handful of songs was enough for me to praise the album. It's a long and solid enough album to discount the duds and still come out alright, no pun intended.

probably because it has the most cringey lyrics ever. Even by 311's standards

I was exaggerating about it being a top 5, but it's pretty high up there for me.

Fucking love that track.

I don't get the cringe from It's Alright. It's a pretty ok song.

Little Brother is the most cringeworthy of all.

I just recently went through and made a few CD's of some 311...now including ALL the albums (as of the last time I did this I was missing the last 2)

Anyway....I hvae noticed that the albums I took most of the music from were Grassroots, Transistor, Blue, and Stereolithic.

Evolver has some goodness,

But even though I thought I liked it at first, uplifter was so.....dumb poppy...but it had great MUSIC and beat, just....ruined it with the lyrics, there are only a few songs I like from that one.

Don't Tread on me..........Its Getting OK now, the only song I really consistently listen to off of that one.

Some bad songs--SpeakEasy....I was SOOOOO excited for this one....especially because of the steel drums and chillness, but it was ruined...and gay'd up.

---But I love Evolution, ;)
