it all boils down to one thing

The sound isnt going to change much. Are you going to seperate from it? Do you still like it? Every album, its always the same thing. Keep "growing" with 311 or fall off. It is what it is. They are never going to top music, grassroots, transistor blah blah blah. enjoy what you get. It isnt a given. It is what is given. love it

I never get the people who says everything 311 does sounds the same. This can be said for most bands. For example, if I listen to Tool, the music from Sober sounds like it belongs in 10,000 days and vice versa. When Tool comes out with their new album, I want it to sound like the Tool I know, not Puscifer or APC.

Sure bands "grow" over time but its not a bad thing to stay true to your roots. Some of the new album reminds me of the Music/Grassroots days and I like that.

EDIT:
Like the assclown on this review
"Critics who heard the music before its official release already have weighed in; the consensus seems to be that the new disc is more of the same."

The only music reviewers I actually pay attention to are my friends.

I mean, what kind of phoning it in reviewer looks up other reviewers to get a fucking consensus. What the fuck!?!

If I was his editor, he'd be fucking fired.

Last time i checked this album was made by 311.

The sound is 311.

Its in my top 5 along side with Grassroots, Transistor, Soundsystem and From Chaos.

If people want old 311 get a fucking time machine or just watch etsd 1 and 2.

Times change and so do sounds. At heart they are 311 and they proved it to me with this album.

We only enter in one contest that we made up ourselves, That's to be the 311est
311 is still the 311est!

Yup. I love the rap rock 90s 311 best, but it would be silly to expect them to return to that. Wherever they go, I'm along for the ride. I don't expect anything, so it is nice when they make something new I like. The band could end tomorrow and I'd be thankful for everything I got.

The rolling stone review is one of the best they got from them. christ, they gave transistor 2 stars.

These reviews are utter nonsense though. It is good 311. If you don't like 311, then you aren't going to like it. They aren't going to come out with some psuedo folk indie rock shit that these douchebags seem to love. Transistor was a huge break from what they were doing and definitely not "more of the same" and every critic in the world shit all over it. You have to be a real waste of life to be any critic for any genre of art.

Could you imagine rolling stone reviewing other artists on their new albums

Metallica sounds like old Metallica
Maroon Five's still sounds like Adam Levine is singing for them
New Lady Gaga, more of the same

I mean it's really just lazy writing
