The new Applied Science.......
Existential Hero.......
I can just feel it.
It would be ballsy if they did though.
Side note:
Existential Hero is also the neo Full Ride

I'm not hearing it at all. Totally different tempo and the riff is very different. Even the vocal delivery is very different... the part just after the verse where it says "hold on" reminds me of two drops in the ocean.

This is a solid song to take the reins of the drum solo.

Re: The new Applied Science.......
Personally, I'd like to see them throw in a new song to be the drum solo and occasionally have applied science in the setlist played normally. It'd be tits to hear that live, normally, without an extended drum solo in the middle.
But that's just me...

Hearing Applied Science, even with a long drum solo in the middle, never gets old for me. Take the reigns? How much longer do you think 311 will be touring? Applied Science has had the drum solo for 20 years now. It's tradition.Tehshewz wrote:Let be honest hearing Applied Science all the time gets old.Mindspin wrote:I like Existential Hero too, but let's not get carried away.Tehshewz wrote:The new Applied Science.......

the solo by itself, yes almost 20 years, but the first tour with all 5 of them banging away i think was 2000. I like how it's evolved and developed into a staple but wouldn't miss it's absence. I wouldn't want to see another song be used in it's place though

Yep, early 2000. I was at one of the first shows after they started the entire band drumming. I'm not a big fan of drum solos in general, but 311 makes it interesting. Best "drum solo" act in music today.dj3stripes wrote:the solo by itself, yes almost 20 years, but the first tour with all 5 of them banging away i think was 2000.
I agree.dj3stripes wrote:I like how it's evolved and developed into a staple but wouldn't miss it's absence. I wouldn't want to see another song be used in it's place though.

Re: The new Applied Science.......
Go/Ebb and Flow and Existential Hero have a similar tempo and that rap/metal/funk vibe as Full Ride. The drums are even the same basic beat. I have always made that connection.
As far as drum solos, it has been said before on the BB years ago. They need to pick a song that already has a drum break:
Don't Stay Home
Stealing Happy Hours (has several drum breaks)
