Who Should 311 Tour With????

Post by rchrhds29 »

Was just thinking that a lot of the bands that 311 tours with I don't really like, like a lot lot, probably the only bands they have toured with that I like are: The Offspring, Alkaline Trio (couldn't believe this at first when I saw it as the trio are like black punk and have tons of songs about suicide and depression etc. and 311 is all upbeat and about positivity), Beck, Oasis, Ziggy Marley, and Goldfinger.

So was wondering what bands you think would make the perfect tour mates to 311? Oh, and please pick only bands that still exist, like don't pick Nirvana for example cause it would be pretty hard for them to tour with Kurt Cobain dead and all, and try not to pick bands 311 has toured with before, as that would be kind of boring.

The way I did it was I picked an opening act (well two, to hard to just pick one) and than a second, but smaller, headliner, (lol so many bands had to pick three) as I think more than three bands often screws up the concert, cause either the opening act, who sometimes is an awesome band you haven't heard of before so you want to see more of them, gets like zero time, or the headliner plays a really short set, which f'ing is a rip off and sucks!

Opening Act:
The Breeders (Kim Deal, of the Pixies, band with her sister Kelley, sound like a mix of the Pixies and emo prior to their breakup, since they came back to the present have more of an alternative slightly punk sound)

or

Bush (LOl again another band with a very large hiatus in the middle of their career, but I think they would be a good opening act as they are a great band and were once popular enough that a lot of people know them but at the same time aren't really to popular any more so now would likely be an opener)

1st Headliner:
Blur (LOL a third band with a big hiatus in the middle of their career. Great band with a great catalog of songs, I would imagine most 311 fans are Blur fans)

or

Reel Big Fish or Dropkick Murphys (at first wasn't thinking they would go together but after seeing that 311 has toured with Goldfinger in the past it makes more sense, moreover, Reel Big Fish, and ska and Celtic punk are both very very up tempo, and 311 is mostly pretty up tempo, also the Dropkick's are extremely politically liberal, and vocal about it, like 311)

Main Act: 311

Probably The Breeders would pair better with RBF or Dropkick and Bush would pair better with Blur.

when i went to Amsterjam a few years back.. wyclef opened for (and then did a mashup with) 311. that was perfect except for the fact that wyclef upstaged 311 big time.

then, the chili peppers played.

i saw the chili peppers play back in 2000ish and STP opened and STP upstaged them... so that being said,

311
Wyclef
RHCP
STP
