So, there's a lot of bandwidth we've got for this site that is just going to waste not being used. I think I'm going to install a mod for phpbb that lets you "attach" files to your posts. So, pictures, sounds, or other files could be uploaded to your posts and displayed there. It should be pretty cool, like allowing sound files to be embedded in the post so you can just click play.
...in the subsilver template, at least. I will have to spend some time getting it to work with the millenniumFalcon template, unfortunately. In the meantime, you can upload and see attachments by switching to SubSilver. I should be able to try to get it working on millenniumFalcon this weekend or next week.
8MB for now. I think it will take a little bit of tweaking. 8MB is probably too small. Also, I'll have to add allowed file extensions as the need arises. So, everyone, let me know here if something needs to be added/changed.
I just uploaded an ~8MB file and it took a pretty long time.
Hopefully it's because my upload is slow.
p.s. I guess you can't just click the song in the post to play it. But you can open it in another tab/window. That's almost better anyway, since then you can close the thread without stopping the sounds.
Isn't it possible to listen to it on streaming? There HAS to be a way. I posted a link to an mp3 on my blog the other day and a play button appeared to play it on streaming. I wonder how that works. Maybe an outside plugin
