Why Do You Think???

Post by rchrhds29 »

Since the virtual death of the CD and the domination of the mp3 and downloading music online people said that bands would stop making albums and instead start releasing songs, either individually or like two or three at a time. But, as we all know, pretty much zero musicians have since gone this route. The only musician I know that even comes close is Rob Zombie. So I am wondering why you think bands still choose to release their music in full album form?? You think it would be easier for them to do like two or three songs every couple of months and release them that way, plus if you release just a few songs on a consistent basis rather than an album every two or three years than you nearly always have new stuff out there and thus keep yourself in the media spotlight.

I'd personally love to see bands, especially 311, start doing it this way. The main reason I'd like this is that, bands often feel compelled to have a "feel" to their albums, and thus the songs all are usually from the same musical format or style and if 311 just released like 2 songs every 3 months than they could try different musical styles out constantly.
