The Top Ten Albums No One Has Heard Of Thread!!!

Post by rchrhds29 »

I am really into small bands, indie music, bands that haven't made it yet. So I figured I'd make a thread where people could list their top ten albums that no one, or basically no one has heard before. Please, when posting a list say what genre of music the band is or give some description on the album or band. Here is mine:

1. Common Rider: Last Wave Rockers (awesome pop punk band from Lookout Records, lead singer used to lead Operation Ivy)

2. Jeremy Enigk: OK Bear (former lead singer of the greatest emo band ever Sunny Day Real Estate's third solo record, I'd call this album an acoustic emo record)

3. Blink 182: Buddha (I hate Blink nowadays, but this is their very first demo, and is also insanely rare, but is an absolute gem of pop punk if you can find a copy of it)

4. One Day As A Lion: One Day As A Lion (RATM's lead singer Zach de la Rocha's short lived band of the late 2000's, sound similar to RATM)

5. Justin Sane: Life, Love and the Pursuit of Justice (Anti-Flag lead singer Justin Sane's first, and so far, only solo record. He described it as "folk punk", which is a great description as it honestly sounds like what you'd expect Bob Dylan to sound like if he were to have made a punk album)

6. The Suicide Machines: Green / On the Eve of Destruction (First let me say you will NEVER, EVER, EVER find Green, they printed like I think 500 copies max and I've been looking for it for over a decade. However, nearly everything from 'Green' was re-released after they broke up on their compilation album entitled 'On the Eve of Destruction', which you can get on Amazon for like $5 to $8, oh and they are a punk / ska band)

7. Pansy Division: Absurd Pop Song Romance (First, and best all gay rock band. They play pop punk and have really great catchy, quirky lyrics)

8. Jeremy Enigk: Return of the Frog Queen (Like I said before ex lead singer of Sunny Day Real Estate. This album is quite different from OK Bear though, like very very different, as Jeremy conducts a 21 piece orchestra in this album and it is more baroque than emo.)

9. M.S.D: October Bleeding (Something you'd never expect for me to list, since the rest of my list is punk or emo, as this band is of the horror metal genre and sounds a lot like Rob Zombie or White Zombie)

10. Inside / Out: No Spiritual Surrender (RATM's Zach de la Rocha's band before RATM, pretty hard to find this though)

Izzy Stradlin ~ 117° (1998)
Izzy Stradlin ~ Ride On (1999)
Izzy Straldin ~ River (2001)
Izzy Straldin ~ On Down the Road (2002)
Izzy Straldin ~ Like a Dog (2005)
Izzy Straldin ~ Miami (2007)
Izzy Straldin ~ Fire, the Acoustic Album (2007)
Izzy Straldin ~ Concrete (2008)
Izzy Straldin ~ Smoke (2009)
Izzy Straldin ~ Wave of Heat (2010)

Even if you know who recent Rock Hall of Fame inductee Izzy Stradlin is, you've still probably never heard of any of his solo albums beyond his first, Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds (1992). So I put his 2nd through 11th albums above. His musical genre is Classic-Rock-styled Blues/Hard Rock, with some significant influences of punk and reggae.

IF NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD IT, DOES IT EXIST AS AN ALBUM?

think of all the albums out there that literally not 1 single person has heard before... there must be billions. there's probably an album in another dimension right next to you and you wouldn't even know it. we are so fucked.

Mindspin: Haven't heard of Izzy Stradlin before, but a mix of punk and reggae sounds really interesting, I'll be checking that out. Thanks

The Smiths - Pretty much their entire catalog. But if I had to pick one album it would be

"The Queen is dead"

I'm not the purveyor of hipster albums no one gives a shit about. But if you haven't listened to the Smiths albums by yourself, then you probably have no idea what you're missing.

Cheers. I suggest starting with Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds and 117° which are both readily available on Amazon and eBay for cheap.
