So I bagged a great producer for the project and we've already recorded a bunch of instruments - piano, drums, bass, xylophone, vibraphone, glockenspiel, oboe and clarinet. We are boot-strapping where we can, but to get the best album possible, some instruments require professional recording studios and engineers, and that costs A LOT:

Cost of the studio and engineers
Hire the musicians (25 of them!)
Rent or buy needed gear and equipment
Producer's fee
Mixing
Mastering
Photos/artwork for the album release and promotion

how in the hell is $3K gonna cover all that?

if you're gonna ask for money to do a project the "right" way.. it sure seems pretty cheap. i mean i know recording costs have dropped significantly; but 25 instrumentalists alone for 15 songs would skyrocket past that if they were any good. unless she just has a lot of friends that are good at what they do
