311 Fans Care/ Project New Orleans

Post by prsand311 »

Saw this on the BB and its a really good idea.
311 fans coming together for a positive thing.

ATTENTION 311 FANS HEADED TO NEW ORLEANS FOR 3-11 DAY 2008:

Want to partake in a project of positivity for the great city of New Orleans? I'm a 311 fan organizing such a project under the name "311 Fans Care / Project New Orleans". Along with Acorn (the Association for Community Organization and Reforms Now), our project looks to give back to New Orleans by helping build and restore homes in the wake of the Katrina storm devestation.

The project will take place on Monday, March 10, 2008 (the day before the big 3-11 Day concert). We are seeking up to 200 volunteers for a day of manual labor, helping the Acorn Organization re-build homes in New Orleans. There are plenty of jobs for men and women alike. You don't need construction experience, all are welcome. Activities would include: hanging sheetrock, taping, spackling, cleaning, sanding, painting, laying tile and other floor materials, outdoor painting, landscaping, and possibly roofing etc. The project site should be close to the downtown hotel district. The group will meet at 7:30am and complete the mission at 3:00pm. This still gives you plenty of time to enjoy New Orleans for the evening. And the project will certainly provide you with a great sense of accomplishment knowing you actively participated in the city's revival!!

Fans that want to join "311 Fans Care / Project New Orleans" please message this myspace page or e-mail projectneworleans@gmail.com with your full name/age/hometown/ and email address. We will then provide you with further details. Due to regulations, this project is for those 18 and over only.

311 itself is not affiliated with Acorn nor my group "311 Fans Care / New Orleans project", but have welcomed and applauded our efforts to put this project together. We're simply 311 fans who want to volunteer for community service to help rebuild New Orleans while in town for the 3-11 Day celebration. We chose Acorn to help coordinate our volunteer efforts.

Thank you for your consideration and support. We look forward to hearing from you and together making a positive difference!!

I will be doing it and be in the same situation as Nate. Still should be a good experience. It really reflects the positive message that the band trys to get through with their music.
