The Down South was the highlight of the show official thread

Post by Shiny »

So I'm back from Memphis. Not much else to say about the show that hasn't already been said aside from my opinion that it was fucking awesome. The 3-set division, the Transistor block, Tim's yell and run off stage, the lighting. All great.

But oh yeah....

DOWN SOUTH was the highlight of the show for me. I sat in my seat and was blown away. The harmonization was perfect for the chorus build up, and the cheesy Nix Hex rhymes balanced it out even more. BUT WOW...the way that they sung "WAY. DOWN. SOUTH." with Nick stomping at each syllable is my most memorable moment of the show.

That show changed my life. Weow.

I completely agree. For the first time, I found myself saying "Man, they should re-record this". So much better with SA in the mix and matured musicianship. I can't wait until a recording of the show surfaces. I mean, I've been listening to the OS version all night, but it just doesn't recreate the whole feeling. Ahhhh...god damn Down South was awesome. Hearing it reminded me of the feeling of kissing a girl for the first time.

WORD, watching tim rock that song, it was rediculous, reminded me why it was i fell in love with 311 in the first place, it was the live show to begin with, as it was with a lot of people im sure, and that just reminded me of watching them play shit live for the first time like a couple of you guys have already said, ironically the song that made me really like nick again was inner light spectrum, i dunno why, just watching him during the song, indearing for some reason

Fuck yes dude I could not agree more!
That was so fucking fun to sing along to. I was fuckin' jumping up and down shouting that line. I fucking love Down South. It's definitely my favorite "omaha sessions era" song.
And This too shall pass with Nick on the bass... Good lord. They just fuckin' pulled out all the stops for those old tracks. They gotta play those more often.
