why do I get the feeling that no one gives a shit?

I know that at the end of september I am NOT going to be on the edge of my seat wondering if i am the member of the month.

Mostly becuase you are considerably bias. ....

so you should make it "Element's Member of the Month." ... at least then people won't think it is something fair and attainable.
