Geocaching

Post by Jordan311 »

Anyone into it, or know about it?

It's a hell of a lot of fun.

What do you mean they have it at pow wow??
They do it everywhere.....

Anyway, I've been doing it for this past week, but I already got like 12 in my area. Gonna place my own soon.
And I definitely intend on doing it on the road trip all the way down to FL. haha

no doubt, but it's listed as an activity on the website for the campgrounds, that's how i heard about it is what i meant. best one my wife found was on an baseball field fence in the vines, pretty clever hide, it was a micro with leaves glued to it.

lol I'm getting the nervous sweats just looking at the ones less than a mile from me. There is one right by my work. I'll look for it the next time I go in.

What're the rules? Do I write my actual name or user name?

Dj3,
That's pretty funny that they listed it as an activity. I'll def be trying to find some at the pow wow. we can go caching together haha. I've found a bunch of really cool ones around here.

Emi,
write your username. I've found some in super populated spots, you just gotta play it cool. It looks less shady if you go with someone else. Smoking cigs helps make standing around in random places seem normal too. Start with some easier ones that arent in high-muggle traffic areas. Not many rules, aside from dont give away the spot for random peeps so that is gets discovered and thrown away or stolen. And make sure you put it back exactly where it was when you found it.

I thought of getting a GPS about two years ago for playing geocaching, but there's about just one in my whole country so it wouldn't be too fun.

lol Dj that wasn't very nice.

Jimmy, Geocaching is pretty much like a hugely huge scavenger hunt. You take listed coordinate and use your GPS (or google) to find the locations of various caches. The catch is that they are usually concealed and you sometimes have to solve some sort of riddle to discover in what way or where exactly they are hidden.

I'd have fun doing it if I wasn't such a big fat chicken.

step one: aquire a GPS or smartphone that has GPS
step two: register at geocaching.com
step three: watch intro video at above website

i use an android phone enjoy the software c:geo to track my caches and caches nearby (search the market for cgeo, can't use colon's aparently to search)

it's pretty simple to dive right in and get started

(edit for app searching)
